Dhaara Webinar on 15 May 2020: COVID-19 Risk Communication and Community Engagement… Reimagining SBCC
COVID-19 pandemic has shaken the world and disrupted many ordinary things we take for granted. As
the epidemiologists and health staff work on a timely response to understand it and deal with the
Corona virus medically, social scientists are examining ways to develop resilience, and coping
mechanisms amongst the population to deal with the pandemic.
In this context, Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) as part of COVID-19 response is critical to provide right information, promote safe behaviours, allay myths, misconceptions, stigma, discrimination, fear and build community ownership to fight the pandemic.
Social and behavior change (SBC) professionals have a critical role to play in implementing and supporting RCCE interventions. To strengthen understanding around the RCCE among development practitioners, TARANG SBCC Hub organised the Dhaara webinar bringing together experts in the area on 15th May 2020.
The webinar was moderated by Vimala Ramakrishnan, New Concept Centre for Development Communication (NCCDC).
